THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED (Close to the Heart Songs, 2016, Kerry Belcher, all rights reserved) performed with Judy Rogers on vocals (With Dirk Johnson on Piano and Anthony Johnson conducting the Vienna Strings)

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
– Matthew 7:13-14

During Several key times in my life, I found myself foolishly thinking, “uh-oh, I’m off the straight and narrow” and thanking God for preserving my life, health and sanity long enough to find my way back. Jesus tells us few there be that find it, so the road to heaven is much less traveled.

Destined for heaven but here on this earth struggles and trials from birth seems that a lesser circuitous route would bring us more quickly to you but you have ordained every pitfall and detour you give us strength to rejoice! You know the temptations that so easily beset us and you love to hear our prayerful voice

Chorus 1
For we are pilgrims on the road less traveled and sometimes the way is bright!
His radiance veils the darkness the enemy uses to strengthen his side of the fight
So we lay down our burdens below the cross of the one who is faithful and true and it thrills our heart….to know we’re on the road less traveled…with you! V2 tests never ending our motives to prove, reeling and heavy we move home lights are burning, they’re just beyond sight and may come into view…tonight
Or maybe the mirrors and darkness we see helps us set our face and go
Toward that elusive celestial city and trust him that sendeth us so

Chorus 2
For we are pilgrims on the road less traveled and sometimes the way is hard…
But you were the first on this heartache-filled highway and absent of all self-regard you set the example of others-first sacrifice nothing here you’ve not gone through so it cheers our hearts to know we’re on the road less traveled with you!
V3 nearing the end of my journey and flight heaven is plainly in sight (in sight)
I might be able to flee from the battle, begin my retirement to ease…
Seeing examples of those who’ve gone on knowing they kept up the fight
Fully expended all earthly possessions for him who has given them flight

Chorus 3
For we are pilgrims on the road less traveled and sometimes the end seems near
But since I know not of the day or the hour I’ll strengthen my heart, and I’ll work ‘til the end, by his grace, I’ll be on the battlefield so, when my frail journey is through…I will say I stayed, we will say we stayed, I will stay on the road less traveled…with you!”
